No Washing Machine?

What if you couldn't use your washing machine or dryer... what would you do? It's a question most people don't think about, but its an important question to ask yourself. That's way this month our ward is focusing on ways of washing clothing during without modern machines.

Its something to consider in times of EMERGENCIES: earth quakes strong winds, snow and ice storms can all bring down power lines. What happens when your electric washing machine breaks, and it will be days before yours is fixed? Never be caught unprepared again!

One idea for clothes care and cleaning is "The Breather^TM" it is perfect for those short-term or long-term emergency cleaning needs. It can be used in bathtubs, house buckets or plastic storage buckets.

Bennion 15th Ward Preparedness Network

As a ward leadership we feel an importance of establishing a network within our ward family that can inform and educate us all on current ideas on preparedness. Our hope is that his blog will help create a link for us, as well as with other wards and organizations who are moving in the same direction.

Now is the time to begin. Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf said in the October 2005 General Conference

"We recognize that we are living in a time of turmoil, disaster, and war. We and many others feel strongly the great need for a "defense, and for a refuge from the storm, and from wrath when it shall be poured out without mixture upon the whole earth" (D&C 115:6)."

The Time Is Now

"I believe it is time, and perhaps with some urgency, to review the counsel we have received in dealing with our personal and family preparedness... We have been instructed to follow at least four requirements in preparing for that which is to come. Gain an adequate education, Live within your income, Avoid uneccessary debt, Store a reserve of food and supplies... As long as I can remember, we have been taught to prepare for the future and obtain a year supply of necessities. I would guess that the years of plenty have almost universally caused us to set aside this counsel. I believe the time to disregard this counsel is over. With the events in the world today, it must be considered with all seriousness.

President Gordon B. Hinckley in the October 1998 General Conference Priesthood Session:

"And there shall arise after them seven years of famine... And God will shortly bring it to pass." Now, brethren, I want to make it very clear that I am not prophesying, that I am not predicting years of famine in the future. But, I am suggesting that the time has come to get our house in order...
